they almost let me down...

(warning: this post is much too long -- and boring -- for its own good. just so you know.)

4:30 in the afternoon, tuesday. the air is thick with a storm that just passed and another soon on the way. it's late spring in pennsylvania.

i've just left a particularly horendous doctor's appointment (this from the girl who is fascinated by medicine and enjoys getting shots). i'm cruising down 30 - scartch that, crawling - down 30 so i can stop at wawa before going back to work. i am in need of rejuvination.

baba o'reilly comes on just as i pull into wawa, and i stroll in with the confidence of a girl who knows she is just about to get exactly what she wants. this is WAWA after all. the beverage refridgerator. i'm in the mood for a sweet iced tea... and what do they have but Nantucket Nectars Half & Half. of course they do. it's wawa.

now onto food. i contemplate what i'm in the mood for... and then it hits me: chocolate covered pretzels. so i begin searching the snack aisles (of which there are many). no sign of the choclatey, salty goodness. i look again, it just cannot be. i walk the whole store, but simply cannot see my dream snack food. frantic at this point, i turn to the man behind the counter who has noticed my search efforts. "do you know if you have chocolate covered pretzels?" "we only sell them in winter." what does he mean they 'only sell them in winter'?? this is wawa for crying out loud.

i settle on my snickers kudos bar, and am checking out at another man's register, when the first comes up to me with three objects in his open palm. "we do have chocolate covered pretzel rods?" "ooo, i'll take all three!"

phew. and i had almost lost faith there.
